Completion 2014 Umijima, Adachi-ku Tokyo Wooden Structure Architectural Renovation and Interior Design
This Japanese style cafe is located in the downtown of Tokyo. The owner is a woman in a good mind who owns a construction firm in this area. Her plan was to renovate this old wooden structure house into a cafe space that simultaneously appeals as a showroom of her construction company. She also wanted to strengthen and expand the social communication with the neighborhood through this eatery space. We observed this old awfully deteriorated wood house and decided to brake the most of parts except the wooden structure. We reinforced the structure and made a beautiful open ceiling space on the second floor. We also designed plenty of built-in furnitures to utilize the small place.
